Celebrate National Forklift Safety Day with our Safety Training Courses
Shoppa’s stays very busy reducing operational costs and increasing productivity for their customers. But on National Forklift Safety Day, it gives Shoppa’s the opportunity to take a step back and highlight the safe use of forklifts and the importance of operator training.
National Forklift Safety Day is an event sponsored by the Industrial Truck Association held once a year. Its intent is to provide the material handling industry the opportunity to educate customers about safe forklift operation.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, from 2011 to 2014, 261 workers were killed in forklift accidents, where the industrial truck was the primary cause.
We want our customers to take precautions for the possible dangers when operating forklifts and other material handling equipment. To facilitate this, we offer professional operator training courses.
OHSA requires all forklift operators be certified to legally operate the equipment. Shoppa’s training courses meet all the applicable OSHA standards. We offer three different safety-training courses: operator training, train-the-trainer and aerial equipment training.
Operator training focuses on training students on the equipment they use in their jobs. The train-the-trainer course allows your managers to become certified trainers who are then able to train other employees on the proper use of equipment. The aerial training course trains individuals to understand the hazards involved when working with equipment of that kind.
“We offer safety training classes at our corporate headquarters in Fort Worth the second Tuesday of every month. In addition, we offer training at our customer’s facilities based upon their needs and certification requirements, “ stated Scott Witt, Director of Forklift Safety, Shoppa’s.
National Forklift Safety Day will be held in Washington, DC on June 14, 2016. The event will feature speakers from OSHA, the National Safety Council, forklift industry representatives and a House representative with jurisdictional over the Department of Labor.
Shoppa’s is encouraging all customers to take time and verify all forklift operator and other material handling equipment training is in compliance. For more information about the safety training courses we offer, visit http://www.shoppasmaterialhandling.com/support/osha-safety-training.
