We are delighted to announce the addition of Steve Boecking to the Shoppa’s team as Chief Operating Officer. With his many years of experience in the material handling industry, as well as his experience in the field of establishing the U.S.’s largest Free Trade Zone, we are positive Steve is going to bring many great ideas and practices to our team.

Steve received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Vanderbilt University. From 1975 to 1992, Steve worked with Caterpillar dealers. Steve worked at Shoppa’s from 1992 until 1999. In 1999, Steve embarked on a long-term career with Hillwood, developer of the 26,000-acre Alliance Texas development in north Fort Worth, where he leaves with the position of vice president. Alliance Texas features one of the nation’s largest intermodal rail hubs operated by BNSF Railway, two Class I rail lines, IH-35W and the world’s first industrial airport, Fort Worth Alliance Airport.

In his position there, Steve oversaw the management of the 9,600-acre Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and was responsible for community relations, enhancing the multimodal transportation infrastructure, supply chain services, workforce development and economic benefits for companies within the development.

“Developing the Alliance Foreign Trade Zone into the number one FTZ in the U.S.A. is one of my proudest professional achievements,” Steve says.

Steve has devoted plenty of time to his community and his professional arena and was awarded the 2017 Outstanding Contribution to the DFW Logistics Community by the Council of Supply Management Professionals. His professional affiliations speak to his commitment to enhancing his community and include Accredited Zone Specialist for the National Association of Foreign Trade Zones, serving on the advisory boards for TCU Center for Supply Chain Innovation and UNT Jim McNatt Institute for Logistics Research, and serving on the board of directors for North American Strategy for Competitiveness, Manufacturing Skills Standards Council and Speedway Children’s Charity.

Steve started in the material handling industry in the parts department, became a forklift mechanic and graduated into sales and management. He likes to learn and develop his team’s individual talents. He says his understanding of the Shoppa’s vision gives him the tools he needs to help lead his team to success.

“We are thrilled to welcome Steve to our team,” said Jim Shoppa, president. “His experience, knowledge, talent and energy are going to be priceless as we continue to grow.”
