October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we at Shoppa’s want to do our part in raising awareness of the second leading cause of death in women.
We invite all employees and customers to take part in a company-wide Pink Out on Friday, October 16 to increase awareness of this deadly disease and to remember those who have lost their battles with breast cancer.
According to Breast Cancer Action, a new breast cancer case is diagnosed every two minutes in the U.S. While a number of factors play into why and how a person develops breast cancer, awareness is the first step in catching breast cancer in its earliest stages and increasing chances of survival.
For participants who want to do more than put on a pink shirt, we encourage you to donate to breast cancer support organization, the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation offers a number of support services and resources to recently diagnosed, in treatment, and post treatment breast cancer patients, providing guidance during what can typically be a tumultuous journey for both patients and their families.
